Jenny Rogers and I have run the Masterclass in Coaching and Trauma over the last 5 years. During that time we have had the pleasure of working with many coaches from a range of coaching modalities. The discussions and contributions were stimulating and valuable to all in the group, including us. It was wonderful to see how the level of trauma awareness within coaching built up over the years as the topic was more widely discussed by many others, not just us. The feedback we received was also enriching, enabling us to feel we were making a valuable contribution to the coaching world, including the clients within it. Thank you to all who joined us at one of these events or the associated workshops we ran. Here are some of the testimonials we received: |

I wish I’d attended a class like this years ago. It freed me to give meaningful consideration to hitherto taboo elements of a client’s story. We’ve all developed as coaches knowing that we must rigidly observe therapeutic boundaries and therefore be largely future focused; all fine and dandy but sometimes not enough to shine a light into complex corners. This thought provoking day opened up new avenues of enquiry, constantly reminding us that we are not diagnosticians yet at the same time recognising that there are things in the there and then which play their part in whatever is going on in the here and now. What a great masterclass! Jules and Jenny used their knowledge and experience with clients to put trauma in to a coaching context which was invaluable to me as a seasoned coach. I am now able to rationalise when coaching may not be appropriate and use ‘trauma models’ to adapt my coaching approach. The learning was enriched by working with a group of distinguished coaches. A day to reflect and refresh that I highly recommend. It is rare to find a training event that can so powerfully shift one’s perspective on clients. This training understands relatively common experiences as traumas and identifies fresh approaches, both to understand them, and to move forward without dwelling on the past. This program is a must for any serious coach practitioner. The workshop Jenny and Julia ran on Coaching and Trauma has completely revitalised and shifted my practice. The space to reflect and practise the approaches with experienced coaches was invaluable. I have used the framework subsequently with a number of clients and it has made sense of what is happening in our coaching relationship. This work has proved both fascinating and significant in taking my coaching to another level. The insights I’ve gained from defining what trauma actually is and how this shows up in a coaching partnership, either in myself or my client, has made a profound change to how I work. The combination of Julia’s expertise on this subject together with Jenny’s vast experience bringing the theory to life… This is the best CPD investment I have made in quite some time. |
If you’re an experienced Executive Coaching looking to deepen your practice you will want to attend this masterclass. The combination of Julia’s expertise on this subject together with Jenny’s vast experience bringing the theory to life, made for a thought provoking and rich learning experience that has already enhanced my practice. This is the best CPD investment I have made in quite some time so if you get the opportunity to attend, don’t walk, run! The workshop Jenny and Julia ran on Coaching and Trauma has completely revitalised and shifted my practice. They are both brilliant facilitators and complement each other in their styles. The space to reflect and practise the approaches with experienced coaches was invaluable. I have used the framework subsequently with a number of clients and it has made sense of what is happening in our coaching relationship. This was a lively session run by two highly experienced practitioners, with a fund of examples to illustrate their points. As a coaching supervisor, I know that not only many clients but coaches too will have experienced some form of trauma in their lives, so it was great to have an opportunity to explore how we can best support them within the coaching/supervision context. In particular, I have found the concept of three different selves – healthy, survival and trauma – has been useful in helping clients make sense of and work with their experience.
